{"id":175,"date":"2015-03-27T16:58:30","date_gmt":"2015-03-27T16:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shakennotstirred.us\/?p=175"},"modified":"2015-03-27T16:58:30","modified_gmt":"2015-03-27T16:58:30","slug":"whats-the-best-way-to-hold-the-martini","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/shakennotstirred.us\/?p=175","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s the best way to hold the Martini?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What&#8217;s the best way to hold the stem to retain maximum Martini coldness?<\/p>\n<p>I use two fingers at the rim.\u00a0 Is it better to hold the base?\u00a0 Or the stem itself?<\/p>\n<p>Having my fingers on the rim of the bowl certainly transmits heat to the glass and then the drink.\u00a0 So physics tells me to hold the base with just a finger and thumb.\u00a0 That provides the longest heat transfer path to the Martini.<\/p>\n<p>But by design Martini stems are very top heavy and I&#8217;d then be concerned about spilling!<\/p>\n<p>Holding the stem between the bowl and base seems to be a good compromise between stability and heat input.\u00a0\u00a0 As long as you&#8217;re just using a couple of fingers.<\/p>\n<p>For me, discretion is the better part of valor, I&#8217;ll take the warming from my finger tips to ensure I don&#8217;t loose any of the drink.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter:\u00a0 @Shkn_Nt_Strrd<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What&#8217;s the best way to hold the stem to retain maximum Martini coldness?
