{"id":205,"date":"2015-04-06T23:07:38","date_gmt":"2015-04-06T23:07:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shakennotstirred.us\/?p=205"},"modified":"2015-04-06T23:07:38","modified_gmt":"2015-04-06T23:07:38","slug":"shaker-thoughts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/shakennotstirred.us\/?p=205","title":{"rendered":"Shaker Thoughts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Glass shakers vs. Metal shakers?\u00a0 Which is better?\u00a0 I think part of the answer depends on whether you store the shaker in the freezer (or fridge).<\/p>\n<p>If you store it in the freezer then the greater thermal mass of the glass shaker will help you chill the martini as you shake it.\u00a0 The typical metal (aluminum or steel) shaker is pretty light with little thermal mass.\u00a0 So freezing it would add little chilling the drink when shaken.\u00a0 Furthermore a &#8216;warm&#8217; metal shaker will give up very little heat into the martini when shaking.\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve got a metal shaker I&#8217;d save the freezer space for more important things, like ice cream.<\/p>\n<p>I use a metal shaker.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve dropped it several times while cleaning and I&#8217;d shudder to think what would happen if it were glass.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Don&#8217;t forget to check out @Shkn_Nt_Strrd on Twitter.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Glass shakers vs. Metal shakers?\u00a0 Which is better?\u00a0 I think part of the answer depends on whether you store the shaker in the freezer (or fridge).
