As you all know, last Saturday was World Gin Day.\u00a0 Some friends and I sampled a small collection of gins.\u00a0 It was a last minute, fun, and very informal event.\u00a0 I thought I would share the comments and ratings of our gins.\u00a0\u00a0 The ratings were from 1 to 5 with 5 being best.\u00a0 There were no rules, guidelines, limitations, or expectations.\u00a0 It was just fun.\u00a0\u00a0 I’ve also added whatever comments came first to mind.<\/p>\n
Miller’s – 3.0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Spicy, Peppery
\nBroker’s – 3.25 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Salty, Cedar, Woodsy
\nBeefeater – 3.5 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Clean, Easy, Refreshing
\nTanqueray – 2.0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Woody, ‘Bite’, Acidic, Harsh
\nNew Amsterdam – 4.25 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sweet, Tangerine, Orange Peel, Citrus, Spicy
\nSeagram’s – 2.25 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 “Piny”, Bland, Blah
\nHendrick’s – 3.75 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 “Not for a Martini”, Lavender, Smooth, Subtle, Peaty<\/p>\n
Miller’s was controversial with its pepper taste, though everyone enjoyed it.\u00a0 Though not necessarily for a Martini – G&T seemed a better option.\u00a0 New Amsterdam was a nice surprise and universally liked.\u00a0 Seagram’s was universally panned as was Tanqueray, though for different reasons.\u00a0\u00a0 The former was just “boring” while the latter was a bit harsh for this audience.\u00a0\u00a0 Tanqueray might get better reviews if were mellowed in a Martini.<\/p>\n
Next year I plan on expanding my sampling selections and invitees.\u00a0 I’m sure to add Bombay Sapphire, Bombay Sapphire East, Tanqueray Ten, and Tanqueray Rangpur.\u00a0\u00a0 Any suggestions or requests will be gladly accepted.\u00a0\u00a0 Keep watching for future notifications on time and place.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
