World Gin Day 2018

Happy World Gin Day 2018!

“I’ve tried Buddhism, Scientology, Numerology, Transcendental Meditation, Qabbala, t’ai chi, feng shui and Deepak Chopra but I find straight gin works best.”
Phyllis Diller

I hope you all celebrate with a Martini. But if not, then a Gin & Tonic will do. Whichever you choose, enjoy safely.

“There is something about a martini, Ere the dining and dancing begin, And to tell you the truth, It is not the vermouth- I think that perhaps it’s the gin.”
Ogden Nash

3rd Anniversary!!

December 24th completes the third full year of exciting Martini and Gin making and overall Martini amusement.  It continues to be great fun writing and I hope you all enjoy my postings as much as I enjoy writing them.

I would like to take a moment and thank my readers.  Your comments and support have been very much appreciated and have helped keep me going on those occasions when I have been a bit less motivated to write.  I really couldn’t have done as much without you.  As always, I solicit your restaurant and Martini reviews, they are ALWAYS welcome here.  Especially Martini Reviews!

Looking back over the year, I have to admit that I seem to have been less prolific than I had hoped.  Especially with my goal of writing gin reviews.  On the other hand I have gone through three iterations of Gin making!  That has been a lot of fun.  Episode four of  my Gin making efforts is on it’s way very soon; coming soon to a blog near you.   (I Made Gin!!Homemade Gin, Round #2 , and Homemade Gin, Round 3  )

Going into the next year I hope to pick up the pace on Gin reviews.  And I do have a couple more Restaurant Reviews already in work and a few planned.   Please forward any restaurant suggestions and will do my very best to review them.

As I did last year, I would also like to take a moment to pat myself on the back …. the “Martini Quotes” page is, I believe, currently the best collection of Martini Quotes anywhere and seems to get the most ‘views’!   If you find a better one, please let me know and I’ll go steal everything I don’t have.   😉

There is also a Martini Jokes page which is constantly expanding.  But additions and suggestions are always welcome!

This blog has evolved over time and will continue to evolve.  But I do plan on keeping the posts at least remotely related to Martinis.   As the tag line says:

A blog for thoughts, ideas, comments, about the Perfect Martini:
How to make, how to enjoy, where to enjoy.

(If you previously read this and are wondering why you’re getting notification again, I’ve had a minor problem with my host.  In the process of updating my site I lost this post which originally was posted on December 23, 2017.  Which is also why I have changed the format of this blog.)

National Martini Day!

Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year to one and all, especially my faithful subscribers.

If you celebrate New Year’s Eve with a Martini or two, Celebrate Safely!    Please don’t drink and drive.  Uber and Lyft will get you home safe.  Your family and friends will appreciate it!

2nd Anniversary!

This month, December 24th to be exact, completes the second full year of exciting Martini making and mayhem.  Its been a great fun writing and I hope to continue through my third year.

I want to take a moment and thank my faithful readers.  Your comments and support have been very much appreciated and have helped keep me going on those occasions when I have been a bit less motivated to write.  I really couldn’t have done as much without you.

Looking back, I’d like to point out that my second year marked the first post written by a ‘guest’ author!  That is much appreciated and I hope to get a few more next year, hopefully by another guest author, or two.   Restaurant and Martini reviews are ALWAYS welcome here.  Especially Martini Reviews!

Going into the third year I plan on starting to review Gins.  This seems like a logical extension to Restaurant Reviews and general Martini musings.  Please forward any suggestions along this line and I’ll make a point of commenting on your suggestions.

I would also like to take a moment to pat myself on the back …. the “Martini Quotes” page is, I believe, currently the best collection of Martini Quotes anywhere!   But if I’ve missed one, please let me know.  I also have a Martini Jokes page!  But it appears to be a bit weak at this time.   While I keep my eyes open to new, or at least uncollected, jokes your suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

This blog has evolved over time and will continue to evolve.  But I do plan on keeping the posts at least remotely related to Martinis.   As the tag line says “A blog for thoughts, ideas, comments, about the Perfect Martini: How to make, how to enjoy, where to enjoy.

Happy National Martini Day!

Martini by the Fire

Today, June 19th, is National Martini Day! It is also Father’s Day!  A coincidence?  I think not!  Sounds like a perfect combination …. so celebrate with your father and a Martini.

H.L. Mencken described the Martini as “perfect as a sonnet” and Herman Wouk said a great Martini “sort of tastes like it isn’t there at all, just a cold cloud.”  With such outstanding endorsements, what more can I say! Enjoy!
Keep Calm

Celebrate Safely.
Remember the advice of Dean Martin:  “If you drink, don’t drive. Don’t even putt.”

World Gin Day 2016

It’s finally here, World Gin Day!  I hope you all celebrate with a Martini.  But if not, then a Gin & Tonic will do.  Whichever you choose, enjoy safely.

June 11 is World Gin Day!!

World Gin Day Slide

Saturday June 11 is World Gin Day this year!   That is just 10 days from now!    😉  Celebrate with a G&T or a Martini!  Or even straight!

I hope to do another round of Gin Tastings, similar to last years.  IF anyone has a gin they’d like tested & tasted, please let me know by commenting on this post.

If you want to check out last year’s World Gin Day tastings, you can find it here:  World Gin Day Sampling Results & Opinions

Happy World Cocktail Day

World-Cocktail-Day

Happy World Cocktail!  My suggestion is to celebrate with a Martini, or three!

Which ever way you choose to celebrate, Celebrate Safely.

Cinco de Mayo!

May 5

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Wondering what all the ‘fuss’ is about?

Cinco de Mayo honors the Mexican army victory over a greatly outnumbered French army at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.   But it is not Mexico’s Independence day.  That occurred over 50 years earlier and is celebrated on September 16.  Americans have adopted the holiday and it is now a much greater celebration in the US than in Mexico.

Traditionally Cinco de Mayo is celebrated with a Margarita.  While I am certainly an advocate for a Martini, I think today really does deserve a Margarita… I’ll take a “Cadillac” Margarita please.

However you celebrate, be safe.  Don’t drink and drive.
